Gamescom 2023: Opening Night Live Announced for August 22nd

The date for Gamescom 2023: Opening Night Live has been set for August.

Gamescom 2023: Opening Night Live Announced for August 22nd

Gamescom 2023 will be back in full swing with Opening Night Live taking place on August 22nd. Geoff Keighley producer and presenter of the show confirmed that the major gaming event will be returning this year.

Keighley made a post on Twitter sharing that it will return to Cologne, Germany kicking off with a live showcase at 11 AM PT/2 PM ET and expected to run for roughly two hours. As per usual, the event will be live-streamed for all to watch. The industry event Gamescom will be running from August 22nd to 27th.

This will be the second major event organised by Keighley with the first being Summer Games Fest taking place in June. With E3 2023 now cancelled, we will still be getting our fill of gaming news and announcements starting June 8th. The lineup so far includes Microsoft Xbox Games Showcase on June 11th which will be followed by a Starfield Direct, making it a double feature.

What to Expect from Gamescom 2023?

Keighley has definitely been shaking up the events this year. With the sudden (but maybe expected) cancellation of E3, it will be interesting to see how that will shape future events for gaming. As we get closer to August no doubt we will have a schedule of what to expect from Gamescom ONL.

Last year we saw further gameplay from major titles such as The Callisto Protocol and Hogwarts Legacy, as well as the announcement of the dark fantasy open-world title Wyrdsong. This year we should be seeing more gameplay and updates of already announced games as well as maybe a few surprises. There are also the Gamescom awards to look forward to or to debate depending on how you look at it.
