Honkai: Star Rail Sushang Build Guide

Honkai: Star Rail Sushang Build Guide – In this Honkai: Star Rail Sushang Build Guide, I’m going to share my Sushang Build to deal as much Physical Damage as possible against single targets. I’ll be discussing the Stats and Skills you should pay attention to, the Light Cones and Relics to strive for, and the Companions to pick in order to highlight Sushang’s DPS capability. If you want to destroy elites and regular enemies by inflicting huge Physical Damage to hit them hard, then this Level 40 Sushang Build Guide is for you!

Honkai: Star Rail Sushang Build Guide

Sushang is a strong 4-star character who specializes in breaking the Toughness of her targets to be able to deal greater Physical Damage and inflict Bleed. She’s great against high-threat enemies and finishing off those with little HP. Compared to other Hunt Path characters, she has more HP and Defense boosts to stay alive longer in encounters.

To help make Sushang’s main DPS build shine, you’re going to need a debuffer and crowd control manipulator in the form of Pela together with an Attack buffer who can either be Tingyun or Asta. Lastly, for improved survivability to withstand taking enough damage, you’ll want to have the ever-reliable Natasha for her consistent heals.

Honkai: Star Rail Sushang Build Guide – Stats And Eidolons

For this Honkai: Star Rail Sushang Build, Sushang follows the Hunt Path, which means that like Seele, she’s extremely skilled at dealing with single targets like bosses. She would often go into fights with the intention of inflicting Weakness Break in order to further amplify her Physical Damage. To push Sushang’s potential to the limit, you’ll want to invest in Critical Rate, Critical Damage, and Attack first.

Increasing these main stats should significantly boost her performance in combat to deal heavy damage. What’s more, is that the effectiveness of her Physical Damage scales with Attack % so you’ll want to keep raising this stat.

Honkai Star Rail Sushang Build Guide

For substats, you’ll be looking into continually increasing Sushang’s Crit and Attack, followed by Speed and Break Effect. These are similar to Hook’s Build in that she also relies on having decent Speed. Doing so will heighten the chances of attacking first and more often in encounters. This would give her a distinct advantage to keep whacking one enemy after the next by dealing Physical Damage, and potentially inflicting the Bleed effect in order to deal damage over time (DoT).

Meanwhile, Break Effect refers to how effective Sushang’s Physical Damage and DoT will continue to be even after she has whittled down her targets’ Toughness to 0. Having a good Break Effect value lets her efficiently obliterate them with ease.

In terms of Eidolons, it’s ideal to get 6 more copies of Sushang to gain access to everything. You’ll want to focus on unlocking Dwell Like Water at Level 6, Cleave with Heart at Level 4, and Cut with Ease at Level 1. Dwell Like Water grants Sushang 1 Speed Boost stack from her Talent the moment she enters combat. Additionally, the number of stacks she can take will be raised from 1 to 2 to further enhance her Speed.

Dwell Like Water Eidolon at Level 6

Next, there’s Cleave with Heart, which effectively boosts Sushang’s Break Effect by a whopping +40%. This is a massive upgrade that will allow your team to finish the encounter quickly. And finally, you have Cut With Ease. This Eidolon restores 1 skill point as long as she uses her Skill against an enemy whose Toughness is 0 so the bonus can easily be triggered.

Honkai: Star Rail Sushang Build Guide – Skills And Traces

In this section, we’ll talk about Sushang’s Skills and Traces together with what you should prioritize in combat.

  • Dancing Blade (Talent) – This passive is incredibly useful for Sushang’s build because as long as any enemy on the field has been inflicted with Weakness Break, her Speed increases for 2 turns. So you’ll want to have another strong damage dealer on the team who can help her succeed.
  • Cloudfencer Art: Warcry (Technique) – This technique lets Sushang initiate combat where she gets to deal huge Physical Damage based on her Attack %, against all targets. To increase her Attack even more, be sure to unlock ATK Boost under Traces.

  • Cloudfencer Art: Starshine (Basic ATK) – This regular attack doesn’t seem important at first besides the usual skill point acquisition. However, once you unlock the Vanquisher Ability at Character Ascension 6, Sushang’s succeeding move can possibly be executed sooner. Using Cloudfencer Art: Starshine against a broken enemy enhances her “Advanced Forward” so she can instantaneously attack again. Note that Vanquisher is also applicable to her Skill.
  • Cloudfencer Art: Mountainfall (Skill) – This is a very potent skill because it allows Sushang to deal massive Physical Damage while inflicting additional damage once Sword Stance is triggered. Sword Stance will be a guarantee as long as she activates Cloudfencer Art: Mountainfall against a target with Weakness Break. This skill synergizes well with the Riposte Ability such that she gets another damage increase, which can stack up to 10x, the moment she enters the Sword Stance State.

  • Shape of Taixu: Dawn Herald (Ultimate) – This Ultimate Ability lets Sushang deal almost double the damage of her Skill against a single enemy while pushing her above the Action Order to inflict damage asap. You can think of this as being similar to Seele’s extra turn where she gets to perform another action right after her first. Not only will Sushang’s Attack be boosted but she’ll also be given 2 more chances to trigger Sword Stance for 2 turns. But note that the Physical Damage from Sword Stance won’t be as potent as the initial one. Still, Shape of Taixu: Dawn Herald continues to be a very good Ultimate because of how it greatly improves Sushang’s damage-dealing capabilities.

For the rest of her Traces, it’ll still be beneficial to gain access to HP Boost, DEF Boost, and Guileless Ability. HP and DEF are self-explanatory whereas Guileless lowers the chances of Sushang getting attacked when her current HP is less than or equal to 50%. So this Bonus Ability allows her to momentarily have a breather in combat.

Honkai: Star Rail Sushang Build Guide – Light Cones

When it comes to Light Cones, the ones you’ll want to chase after for Sushang’s kit are Arrows, Swordplay, and In the Night. Arrows is a good 3-star Light Cone that grants her increased Crit Rate at the beginning of every encounter for up to 3 turns. This will allow Sushang to capitalize on the opportunity to deal as much Physical Damage as possible against high-value targets. So while waiting to pull Swordplay, you can ascend Arrows to something as high as Level 35 or 40.

Swordplay is a 4-star Light Cone that will keep increasing her Physical Damage for a maximum of 5x as long as she continuously hits the same enemy. But Swordplay’s benefit will start from scratch the moment she switches over to another target. There is an advantage and disadvantage to this. The advantage is that she’ll be able to concentrate on attacking the same boss over and over again but the disadvantage is she can’t switch targets since doing so would be detrimental for her damage boost.

As such, the best Light Cone to get for Sushang is In the Night, which is a 5-star Light Cone that you can also use for Seele. This weapon provides flexibility in the sense that she won’t be restricted to attacking just 1 elite. For starters, her Crit Rate will be buffed by default. Now every time her Speed increases by 10 starting from 100, she’ll gain Physical Damage boosts for her Basic Attack and Skill as well as Crit Damage for her Ultimate. To make matters better, In the Night allows these damage bonuses to stack by as much as 6x! This will turn Sushang into a deadly beast on the battlefield since every attack she makes regardless of the ability will be dangerous to her targets.

Honkai: Star Rail Sushang Build Guide – Relics

In terms of Relics, it’s important to remember that for the Head and Hands, your character gets a flat HP and Attack bonus, respectively. This isn’t the case for the Body and Feet, which are comprised of random stats such as Crit and Break Effect. Ideally, you’d want to equip 4-star Relics since they provide 2-3 substats in addition to their main stat. But remember that regardless of the rating, enhancing them for every 3 levels will yield a random substat. For a Level 40 Sushang, it’s enough to level up her Relics to a maximum of +6 for 4-star gear until you get their 5-star versions to reserve enough resources by then.

For Sushang’s Relics, you’ll only need to equip one 4-piece set, specifically the Champion of Streetwise Boxing. This will raise both her Physical Damage and Attack. For Attack, she’ll need to either hit enemies or be attacked herself to receive the buff. This shouldn’t be an issue since she has HP and DEF boosts as well as a support character in the team to heal her when needed.

Honkai Star Rail Sushang Guide - Champion of Streetwise Boxing Set

The Champion of Streetwise Boxing becomes readily available as you progress in Honkai: Star Rail, and it can be farmed from the Cavern of Corrosion: Path of Jabbing Punch to get better stats. For the Champion’s Chest Guard and Fleetfoot Boots, you’ll want to prioritize improving Crit and Attack %, followed by Speed and Break Effect.

Team Composition

In Honkai: Star Rail, you’ll have all four characters available while combat is ongoing so you won’t be swapping from one to the next. There also won’t be elemental pools left behind. Instead, you’ll focus on the enemy’s weaknesses to deplete their Toughness and HP accordingly. For this Sushang Guide, I’ll be sharing the best characters to go with her and how effective their skills are for this build.

Team Composition for Sushang

Since Sushang will be taking on the main DPS role, you’ll want a secondary or sub DPS to help her out. One character who excels in debuffing the heck out of targets is Pela of the Nihility Path. Not only can she deal huge Ice Damage, which can potentially freeze them in place, but she can also reduce their Defense Stats using the Zone Suppression Ultimate. This will leave foes exposed and vulnerable to taking any type of damage. So Sushang will certainly benefit from these destructive debuffs.

Sushang Build Guide - Pela in Combat

For Sushang’s support character, the best free-to-play option is Natasha of the Abundance Path because she can continue to outperform March 7th in clutch moments. This is due to her healing capacity using Love, Heal, and Choose as well as Gift of Rebirth. She also regenerates Energy fast in order to restore everyone’s HP often.

And last but not least, you’ll want Tingyun or Asta, who both follow the Harmony Path. Tingyun can significantly boost Sushang and Pela’s Attack with her Soothing Melody Skill while letting them deal Lightning Damage as well. She’s also generous when it comes to providing 50 Energy to an ally using the Amidst the Rejoicing Clouds Ultimate. On the other hand, Asta can continually improve a target’s Attack as long as she maintains her Charging stacks. But she’s better utilized as the sole provider (for now) of Speed boosts using her Astral Blessing Ultimate.

Final Tips

Sushang is a powerful DPS who relentlessly deals Physical Damage over and over again to break the enemy’s Toughness. Doing so will further increase the damage against her next targets, making her a must-try character in Honkai: Star Rail. For skill rotation, you’ll want to frequently activate the Shape of Taixu: Dawn Herald Ultimate so she can possibly execute another attack right away. This will also allow her to enter Sword Stance to inflict more damage. Next would be Sushang’s Cloudfencer Art: Mountainfall Skill for the extra Physical Damage boost. Throughout these attacks, she can gain a Speed buff for 2 turns with her talent as long as she keeps hitting Weakness Broken targets.

Sushang is well-suited for any type of encounter, whether she’s facing elites or mobs. If you want to push the team’s DPS capacity further, you can swap out Tingyun or Asta for Seele to have 2 Hunt characters. Although you’ll be letting go of the Attack and/or Speed buffs, you’ll get to play 2 powerful damage dealers to finish encounters quickly. Pela will still be there to reduce the enemy’s defenses and Natasha should help with the team’s survivability.

Lastly, when it comes to Planetary Ornaments, remember to select the Celestial Differentiator. This will not only increase Sushang’s Crit Damage but also her Crit Rate, allowing her to leave multiple fallen enemies in her wake.
