Honkai: Star Rail Bronya Build Guide

In this Honkai Star Rail Bronya Build Guide we’re going to be covering the offensive support Bronya Build. This build focuses on buffing teammates, and advancing their turn, as well as dealing a high amount of damage for a support, by advancing her own turn, and having 100% Crit rate.

Honkai: Star Rail Bronya Build Guide

Bronya is a standard banner Five Star who has no rate up banner. You get Bronya from either the 50 wishes on the departure banner, reaching pity on standard banner, or losing the 50:50 chance on a rate up banner. So acquiring Bronya is a random chance, and not everybody will have her. Yet, if you are one of the lucky few, she’s a very strong offensive support.

She’s a Wind support from the Harmony Path. Her main gimmick is advancing the turn of one ally, as well as giving them improved damage multiplier. Upon using normal attack instead of her skill, Bronya also advances her own turn. In a turn based game, advancing turns is huge advantage, regardless of your team composition. Not only that, but Bronya has a ultimate that increases Attack and Crit damage of the entire team. And for her own damage, she has a Trace that give her 100% chance to deal a Crit. And at higher levels, she unlock more traces that buff your team’s Def and damage multiplier. She also has a debuff cleanse on her skill.

Overall, Bronya has the biggest pool of buffs in the game, and they all benefit all characters, even characters who don’t scale well with attack (such as Blade). She’s a very flexible character that can also used defensively, by advancing defensive units turns, which is what we focus on in this Honkai: Star Rail Bronya Build.

Bronya Build Guide – Active Skills

Skill leveling Priority: Skill > Talent = Ultimate = Basic Attack. So Just level everything, she’s that good

Windrider Bullet – Normal Attack

Deals wind damage to a single target, that is guaranteed to be a Critical hit (with 2nd Ascension Trace). And while the main part of Bronya’s kit is her skill, her normal attack has good damage and so much utility. Using a normal attack advances Bronya’s next turn by 15% – 33%, depending on level. That is likely to cut the line, and place Bronya in front of enemies’ turns. Which then allow her to advance the turn of another character in your team.

There are some teams that don’t have room for Bronya using her skill, and they rely on spamming her normal attacks only.

Combat Redeployment – Skill

The skill targets one ally, and do three things:

  • Remove one debuff
  • Advance an ally’s turn to take next action, regardless of their original turn position.
  • Give the ally massive damage multiplier (33 – 72%) for one turn.

This allows your team to spam so many turns before the enemy get a chance to react. And since Bronya can advance her own turn, she can chain some interesting tactics together. Even without any advanced tactics, it’s still a very strong increase in team damage.

Leading the Way – Talent

As explained before, after Bronya uses her normal attack, she advances her next turn.

The Belobog March – Ultimate

At the cost of 120 energy, Bronya gives the entire team Attack and Crit damage buffs. The values of this ultimate is pretty insane, considering the buff lasts for a whole two turns. The attack buff goes from 33% to 59%, and the Crit damage buff starts from 18% at the first level with no crit damage stat on Bronya. Up to 27% at highest level, with no crit damage stats on Bronya. Then it scales up even further with the Crit damage value you can get on Bronya.

Bronya has 100% Crit Rate by default, so you can invest everything in Crit damage. At the highest relic rarity and level, you get 65% Crit Dmg from Body, and anything from 5% to 30% on sub stats on the rest of her pieces, and that’s on top of Bronya’s base 50% Crit damage. That’s already close to 200% Crit Damage on average, before adding a further 24% more from Traces, and eventually more from her Light Cone, and it will result in a Crit damage buff higher than 50% to all allies for two turns!

You can refund energy for Bronya pretty easy as well, because she gets more actions per turn. She can do both a normal attack, and use a skill before enemies take a turn. She’s also free to use the Energy regeneration stat on a Rope Relic, for even faster spam of her ultimate. We aim to get her buff as close to permanent as possible.

Honkai: Star Rail Bronya – Traces

Traces are passive skills that characters unlock after leveling, and reaching certain ascension levels. For this Honkai: Star Rail Bronya Build, you need to farm and spend resources to unlock Traces, but they give a huge advantage to Bronya. For a an offensive support such as Bronya, you want to prioritize all major Traces. And for minor Traces, she gets very strong Crit damage ones. But it’s up to you if you want them now or later, depending on how much materials you can get your hands on.

Command – Major – Ascension 2

Adds the 100% Crit rate to Normal Attack, so Bronya Always deal a Critical hit. It increase damage by a lot, and allows Bronya to build for full Crit Damage. So she increases damage further, and increases her Crit Damage buff.

Honkai: Star Rail Bronya Build - Traces

Battlefield – Major – Ascension 4

At the start of the battle, increase all allies DEF by 20% for 2 turns. It’s useful to increase shield strength of allies such as March 7th on the first turn, and also useful in waves=based content, but against bosses, it has barely any use. You still need to unlock this Trace at some point, because it has some wind damage and Crit Dmg minor traces behind it.

Honkai: Star Rail Bronya Build - more Traces

Military Might – Major – Ascension 6

By merely existing, Bronya give all allies a 10% damage multiplier. This buff is permanent and has no condition, and benefits any kind of character. It’s one of the reasons Bronya is very immune to power creep in the future. So she’s not only good now, but will stay very good for very long.

Minor Traces

Bronya gets ten minor stats increases, distributed as the following

  • Wind damage (Five nodes)
  • Crit Damage (Three Nodes)
  • Effect Res (Two Nodes)

Prioritize the Crit damage trace behind Second Ascension “Command”, as it unlocks immediately after it. The other two Crit Damage traces takes more time and investment, but save resources for them if possible.

Honkai: Star Rail Bronya Build – Light Cone

For this Honkai: Star Rail Bronya Build, gear is a crucial part, and usually requires some testing with various teams and setups to get the highest performance. In this section, I’ll go through the recommended Light Cone for Bronya, to fulfill her support role, as well as increase her DPS.

Light Cones are similar to weapons in other games, and while you can equip any Light Cone on any character, only Cones matching the character’s Path can provide full benefits. Bronya is of the “Harmony” Path, which focuses on buffing allies’ offensive capabilities. So Bronya finds herself with strong options for support, but little options for higher personal damage, unless you get her signature Light Cone from the Starlight Exchange, which I recommend. But this takes time and lots of wishes, so meanwhile we use other options.

Chorus, Mediation, or Meshing Cogs – Three Stars

Any of three stars Harmony Light Cones will do fine for Bronya, and I would rank them all at the same tier. Each one leans a little towards a niche, but in the end, it shouldn’t matter much. You will only use three stars temporarily, because they have low attack value. Four Stars Light Cones, or even Five Stars signature are much better.

Mediation give massive speed to the whole team on the first turn, and I personally prefer it with teams that have no healer. The reason is, it will overtake the first turn from fast enemies, so they can’t start attacking before your team. That way, you have enough time to shield up, freeze enemies, or break them before they react.

Chorus on other hand gives an attack buff to all allies, with no condition. And Meshing Cogs allows Bronya to generate energy faster to ultimate more often. More energy is useful if you use normal attacks a lot, while a generic attack buff is better if you spam Bronya’s skill.

Memories of the Past – Four Stars

Most of Four Star Light Cones are good enough, and will perform decently well. However, “Memories of the Past” gives more energy, and is a direct upgrade from Meshing Cogs. It generates energy for Bronya, increase her break effect, and has four star stats making it very solid option.

Virtually, “Past and Future” Light Cone should be better in certain teams that have Bronya use her skill more often. However, this Light Cone can’t be acquired from banners, and needs to be purchased from the Forgotten Hall Store. And since the signature Five Star Light Cone of Bronya is available in another shop, you’re better off saving and waiting, and using any accessible four stars or even three stars until then.

But the Battle Isn’t Over – Five Stars

One of the best parts of this Honkai: Star Rail Bronya Build, is that Bronya’s signature weapon is surprisingly available for free, if a player has the patience to save for it. It comes from the Starlight Exchange shop, and costs 600 “Undying Starlight” . This has five star stats, so a high base attack, and a passive that gives Bronya several benefits. It increases her energy gain, gives the team a skill point on ultimate use, and the next ally taking an action after Bronya and using a skill deals 30% more damage.

These are so many buffs that all synergize with Bronya’s playstyle. Her ultimate will charge often, then refund a skill point, allowing her to use more skills. It’s also good with Hypercarry teams, such as Seele with three supports.

Honkai: Star Rail Bronya Build - But the Battle Isn't Over

Honkai: Star Rail Bronya Build – Relics

In this Honkai: Star Rail Bronya Build, you have four Relics slots, Head, Gloves, Body, and Feet. Then two other slots that unlock at higher levels that are Sphere and Rope. Head always come with a Flat HP stat, and Gloves comes with Flat Attack. Then Body, Feet, Sphere, and Rope come with random stats. So gearing the Head and gloves will lean more towards finding the best sub stats, while other four have to also roll a good main stat.

For Bronya, we have more defined best stats, which is easier to understand, but harder to find. Bronya has guaranteed Crit Rate, so any Crit Rate stat is a total waste on her. She needs Crit Damage and no other main stat on Body, Speed and no other main stat on Feet, and Energy Regeneration and no other stat on Rope.

Sub stats can roll a lot of stats, but we need to give Bronya Speed, and Crit Damage. But that’s easier said than done.

Musketeer of Wild Wheat

The starter relic set is surprisingly effective on Bronya, as it gives her speed, normal attack damage, and attack. The speed is the most important, because it help Bronya gets more turns. The set drops from a lot sources, and all characters will have a lot of pieces. It eases up the farming, and give more chance to find the stats you need.

Eagle of Twilight Line

What’s better than a Speed stat? The answer is: even more speed! This set doesn’t give flat speed, but instead, it allows Bronya to advance her turn when she uses her ultimate. It gives less damage than “Musketeer of Wild Wheat”, but the advance in turns stacks with Bronya’s own turn advancement. So the result is even more turns in short period of time. Overall, a very nice improvement for endgame, but it takes longer to get good pieces.

Honkai: Star Rail Bronya Build – Team Composition

Teams consists of four characters in Honkai Star Rail, where you usually seek to fill several roles, such as single target DPS, AOE DPS, shield breakers, and both defensive and offensive supports. The combat system prevents you from using one character to break all shields, since shields break only if you attack it with the elements it’s weak against. Therefore, the game still encourages players to build a very diverse team, with four different elements, or at the very least three elements.

In this section, I’ll go through some of the recommended team members for this Honkai: Star Rail Bronya Build. Note that Bronya is a support, so she has many team options, but she usually has two team playstyles: Hyper carry, or multiple DPS. An example hyper carry team is Seele, Bronya, Tingyun, and Bailu. While a a standard team with multiple DPS can be Yanqing, Bronya, Fire Trailerblazer, and Natasha. I’ll be going to explain the latter, since it’s easier to get going in a free to play account.

Healer from Abundance Path

It’s a restriction we are forced to deal with, that challenging encounters deal a lot of damage. Enemies will always CC your team, and eventually kill them in longer fights. You need a healer in the majority of compositions, and we have only two healers in the game at launch. The five star Bailu who has no rate up banner, and the free Natasha. So we always need Natasha.

Not that Natasha is a bad character that game forces into our team, she’s actually very good. Natasha heals, cleanses, and with the right Light Cone and relic set, she also refunds energy and skill points to the team. Buy a “Quid Pro Quo” Light Cone from Forgotten Hall shop, and enjoy constant energy generation for a random character every turn. And compliment it with the “Passerby of Wandering Cloud” Relic set, for an extra skill point at the start of the battle.

Natasha has the Physical element, so she can help break certain enemies who are weak to Physical. She will use her normal attacks more than her skill, so she’s free to attack enemies.

Natasha

DPS from The Hunt Path

With Bronya, you have massive offensive buffs that it would be a waste to not use a character from The Hunt Path. Hunt is single target DPS focused, with very good offensive stats, that Bronya compliments very well. It also has some of the strongest damage dealers in the game, whether Four Stars or Five Stars.

The recommended Four Star option from this Path is Sushang, if you got her from a Warp. Instead, you can upgrade to Yanqing or Seele, in case you pull either. And if you have none of the previous characters, you have to fall back to using Dan Heng, since he’s free. But keep in mind Dan Heng is very hard to play optimally, and relies on a lot of variables you can’t control to deal good damage.

I’ll go with Yanqing in this slot, since he’s a very good Cryo DPS that has self buffs to Crit Rate. So Bronya’s Crit damage buff will have more impact on him compared to other options. Yanqing also likes to get more turns to charge his ultimate faster and proc his follow up attack more often. Not only that, but he can freeze enemies, so Bronya enables him to further his CC role as well as DPS.

Yanqing

Normal Attack sub dps From Perseverance/Nihility Path

When building a team around Bronya, I prefer using a hybrid sub DPS character. Hybrid means they can do their job with normal attack, doing damage and refunding skill points, but also have a unique skill that gives more utility, which they use once in a while. The reason is, both Bronya and a carry from The Hunt Path need a lot of skill points to deal maximum damage. And while Bronya can play a natural unit, or even pure normal attack spammer, there’s a lot more potential in using the skill of Bronya’s to advance the turn of a DPS character, and she need more skill points to do so.

From the wide roster of characters there’s few picks that stand out, namely Fire Trailerblazer, and Gepard from the Preservation path. Then there are also Pela, Sampo, and Welt from Nihility Path. The Perseverance characters provide the team with damage and more protection. And Nihility characters do damage, and cause debuffs on enemies. Meanwhile all of them need to use skills less often, and can spam normal attacks without losing much.

I play Fire Trailblazer, since they are a guaranteed free unit, for whom you get full six Eidolons for free. Fire Trailblazer also provides small shields to all allies, and has AOE potential, not to mention how fire is very good at breaking enemies. You basically use his skill once in a while, and spam his normal attack and ultimate. Fire Trailblazer has a taunt, and will likely get targeted by all enemies. And when they attack, or get hit, they build up stacks. These stacks can be used to enchant normal attacks to deal more damage in AOE. So overall, a perfect character to compliment Bronya and a main DPS.

Final Tips

Bronya has so many ways to play her rotation, but the simplest way is to alternate between her skill and normal attack. The first turn goes like: Bronya Normal attack, Yanqing Skill, Natasha Normal Attack, Fire trailblazer Skill, Bronya Skill, Yanqing Ultimate (if it charged), and finally Yanqing Skill. All of this is possible to be done before enemies take their first turn (if you use Mediation Light Cone on Bronya).

In the second round, now Yanqing’s turn is placed right behind Bronya, so using her skill on him again doesn’t have the same impact. However, Fire Trailblazer is now in front of Bronya, and we can exploit that. You go with Natasha normal (or heal if your team is injured), Fire Trailblazer Normal, Bronya Skill, Fire trailblazer normal again, then Yanqing skill. And on the third round, we use Bronya normal, and repeat. This way, you steal a lot of turns from the enemy, and break their shields faster, and deal more damage.

You can replace Yanqing with other characters, but some of them require unique rotations such as Seele. So consult their respective guides for detailed information.
